* Dalai Lama & Western Women

In his speech at the Vancouver Peace Conference on September 27, 2009, the Dalai Lama stated, “"The world will be saved by the western woman."

No doubt his Holiness was dazzled by the energy of feminine power at this conference, as he was surrounded by passionate, effective women on a mission for peace. As one of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates who presented, the Dalai Lama took the stage with four other Laureates, three of them women, including Mairead Maguire and Betty Williams, co-founders of the Northern Ireland Peace Movement (1976 Nobel winners), and Jody Williams, an American leader in The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (1997 Nobel winner).  The conference was moderated by Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland (1990-1997) and peace activist, currently seated at the United Nations. Canada's Governor General Michaelle Jean also moderated.

Western women do have advantages - equal rights, education, healthcare, financial opportunities, and technology - that enable us to embark upon and fulfill our missions. But the Dalai Lama identifies the feminine innate qualities that make women natural peace-makers.  In his speech he also stated, “Some people may call me a feminist . . . But we need more effort to promote basic human values -- human compassion, human affection. And in that respect, females have more sensitivity for others' pain and suffering."

Dear women, you can answer the planet’s call for feminine essence. if you needed any reassurance of your personal influence and power, please let the Dalai Lama’s voice be one of encouragement.  You don’t have to go it alone. Several women’s peace organizations are already established and welcome your support.  You can begin to exercise your gifts and donate them for the betterment of the planet. THAT is what being a Positive Energy Woman is all about.
