One Minute to a High Vibration

The Beach Boys were probably the first to popularize the mystical essence that radiates from each of us:

“I’m picking up good vibrations
She’s giving me excitations”

Many of us would like to be that woman with a vibration that causes “excitations” and attracts amazing people and opportunities.   

Our vibration is an inherent part of each of us, yet few understand what “vibes” are and how they influence our lives. In this article, I break it down in simple terms what a vibration is and how you can quickly generate a frequency that feels good inside of you and exciting to others.  


Energy and Vibration

The foundation of vibration is energy. On a fundamental level, energy is an electromagnetic field made of particles and waves with a potential to move or make an action. Ancient mystics grasped the concept that everything in the universe, including air, rocks, water, people, and even words, are made of energy, and mondern-day quantum physicists have proven it to be true.

In the human body, we have an energy called life-force, which is the vital substance that gives our physical structure life and sustains our existence.

Our body naturally generates its lifeforce energy, and it’s supplemented by the air we breathe and the food we eat. Physical movement and deep breathing amplify lifeforce. Our thoughts and emotions can also impact its potency.

This life-giving essence fills every cell in our body and radiates outwardly from our body as an aura. This aura is an energetic field that represents our physical vitality and the state of our emotions, mentality, and spiritual consciousness. In other words, our outward vibration is a reflection of what is happening inside.

The aura contains a vibration that can be sensed by others. This is the vibration the Beach Boys sang about and that we want to cultivate in ourselves to exciting levels.

Vibrations “feel” different and are largely based on the emotions and state of being. In David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD”s book, Power VS. Force, emotions are calibrated from low to high frequencies.

Lower-level emotions, like anger, fear, and hopelessness carry lower frequencies. Higher-level emotions, such as love, peace and joy resonate at higher frequencies.

These frequencies contribute to our auric vibration.

Quantum physicists discovered that our vibration has two interesting characteristics that effect our lives:

1) Energy attracts like energy

2) Our consciousness influences energy and its vibration

To illustrate “energy attracts like energy”, think about being in a state of inner-peace, love and joy. Your inner frequency is high. Others perceive you as light, inviting, uplifting and expansive. People or opportunities that resonate at that same level are attracted to you.

Likewise, anger, fear, hate, and hopelessness feel bad inside and lowers our vibration. To others, we “feel” heavy, draining, constricting and repellent. We may attract other low-frequency people and opportunities, and repel higher-vibrational energies.

And it gets even more interesting, which brings us to the second part; our thoughts and mindset can influence our emotions, and thus our vibration. Good news; we can shift and uplift our frequency instantly.

For millennia, practitioners of Yoga, Tai Chi, and Tantra have used techniques to elevate their lifeforce and launch their vibration to ecstatic places. Contemporary spiritual philosophies, such as Laws of Attraction and Spiritual Science, suggest mindful practices to deepen our consciousness and heighten our resonance. The more we practice, the more deeply we embody and maintain a potent, positive vibration.

Following are three easy exercises derived from ancient and modern practices that uplevel your frequency instantly.

Gratitude

Most of us have rich lives overflowing with material and intangible goods we take for granted, and when we perceive them as divine gifts, we feel blessed, which is a high-level state of mind that can have a positive influence on our entire being. We’ve all heard stories of a desperately disadvantaged person who maintained a joyful state as they made their way to a better life. Often, it was her or his gratitude for the simple things like nature’s beauty, a strong body, or a close friend, that influenced their joyful outlook and ability to magnitize beneficial people and opportunities.

In an easy exercise to raise your vibration, become grateful. Take a moment to think about all the good things in your life. Write a list or say aloud each item you’re grateful for, including the most seemingly unsubstantial things, like a glass of clean water, your healthy body, a functional car. Continue listing them until you’re complete. (Please note, it may take a while.) And when finished, maintain your gratitude. Being thankful for your abundance can catapult your vibe to lofty levels and draw even more good to you.

Love

Love is a state of being that is compassionate, caring, non-judgmental, and is given freely without expectations or demand for reciprocation (i.e., this is not romantic, emotional love.) Love is one of the highest vibrations in the universe. It’s more than physical or emotional; it is spiritual.  

For an instant love-boost, bring your hands to your heart, close your eyes, and imagine you’re a part of the vast universe. Know that you are much more than your physical body. You are unique energy within the quantum field of unwavering love, intelligence and possibility. YOU are love, intelligence and possibility.

Now, bring to mind someone you deeply care for. Feel the pure essence of love in your heart and allow it to expand within you with each breath you take. Maintain this feeling for a minute or two. Say “I love you” to that person in your mind, and envision your love moving toward them as you say “I love you.” Then say “I love you” to yourself.  Feel the love as you express it. Inhale deeply, then exhale saying “Ahhhhh,” open your eyes, and get on with your day sharing your love with everyone you meet.

Mindset

A mindset is your attitude about things, often based on thoughts, beliefs or values. Your mindset has a direct correlation to your vibration. A mere shift in your attitude from negative to positive can instantly enhance your physical, emotional and spiritual being and uplevel your energetic field.

In this simple practice, simply flip your “attitude switch".” For example, if you believe your job stinks, reframe your negative thought from, “My job sucks,” and perceive the benefits, and think instead, “This is a good opportunity to help me pay my bills.” Instead of believing, “I have the worst luck,” adjust your thoughts and say, “I have excellent luck,” or even better, “The universe is working in my favor.”

When your attitude changes from victim to empowered, from disadvantaged to advantaged, or from poor to rich, your vibration alters with it.

Though this is a simple exercise, people with deeply-rooted beliefs or unconsciously pessimistic outlook may find it to be challenging. But even a shift that lasts one minute will brighten the aura. And with continued practice, negative thoughts can be replaced by positive ones, raising your vibration along the way.

Afterward

Now that you have a “high vibe",” give it a test ride. Observe the kinds of people who enter your life and the opportunities that start coming your way. Notice how you feel inside and how your body responds.

Begin each day with an uplifting practice and watch your life change for the better.
